Totally out of the blue I got a call from my old friends at Que Pasa. Costco had just accepted them as a vendor and Que Pasa felt it was a perfect time to do a packaging redesign. The folks at Que Pasa believed firmly in showing the product and maintaining the Que Pasa Orange.
I came up with a new design with wrap label that covered more of the package but still allowed consumers to see the real product but also enticed them with a photo of what it could look like when cooked. As well it incorporated traditional blue Talavera pottery to add a feeling of authenticity to the product.
I came up with the line: “From our kitchen to your table” to reinforce Que Pasa as a local, family business with deep roots in the community.
In the first two weeks after launching the new package, sales rocketed up 70%.
There were two more entré dishes that were in the process of being repackaged when Que Pasa was bought by Nature’s Path. Being a plant based company, they opted to end the entré dishes. But I still got a great review, a Talavera serving dish and the memory of those fantastic enchiladas. (They really were awesome.)
